About KNAU Arizona Public Radio
KNAU is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) as a non-commercial, educational radio station. KNAU's licensee is the Arizona Board of Regents acting for and on behalf of Northern Arizona University,
a nine person board appointed by the Governor of Arizona. Within
NAU, KNAU reports to Vice President of Advancement, Molly Williams.

- Page frequencies 91.7 FM (KNAD) 1000 watts and 102.7 FM.
- Kingman translator: 89.3 FM 90 watts.
- Cottonwood translators: 102.5 FM and 103.3 FM
- Payson translator: 93.5 FM
- Grand Canyon 90.3 (KNAG) 3000 watts.
- KUYI / Hopi Radio 88.1 FM and KGHR-FM/Tuba City 89.5.FM also occasionally rebroadcast KNAU.
KNAU Mission Statement:
As a public service of Northern Arizona University, KNAU Arizona Public Radio is a trusted source of information, music and entertainment for rural Arizona through radio and other media.
KNAU Vision Statement: KNAU is the premier source of balanced, accurate information, civilized discourse, and cultural inspiration in rural Arizona. We reflect the distinctive qualities of our region and operate in efficient and sustainable ways. Staffing
- 12 full-time staff, 2 part-time staff, and numerous student interns.
Approximately 200 volunteers participate in station pledge drives. KNAU
management includes: General Manager John Stark, Program Director Geoff
Norcross, and Finance Director Annie Kuchler.
Coverage -KNAU
serves a huge coverage area: ranging from Kingman on the west (near
Arizona's California border) to Ganado on the east (near Arizona's New
Mexico border); Grand Canyon Village and Page on the north (near
Arizona's Utah border) to the fringes of the Phoenix metro area on the
south. KNAU's coverage area includes both the Navajo and Hopi
Reservations and the Yuma area in southwestern Arizona.
An
estimated 60,000 persons listen to KNAU weekly (source: spring 2005
Arbitron, Phoenix DMA, persons 12+.) KNAU has approximately 3,500
paid members across northern Arizona with an average contribution of
approximately $125/year.
Affiliations - KNAU is a member
of National Public Radio, Public Radio International, American Public
Media and the Associated Press Association. KNAU is a Corporation for
Public Broadcasting (CPB) qualified radio station, meaning that it
meets minimum financial and staffing criteria and is entitled to
receive federal government funding.
Operations -KNAU
began broadcasting in 1983. The station operates two audio streams with
a 24-hour, 7 days a week schedule. KNAU's NPR News and Classical
Music service and KNAU's NPR News and Talk service can be heard throughout northern Arizona. KNAU
regularly enters into partnerships and acts as media sponsor for a
number of northern Arizona organizations and events including Flagstaff
Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Music Sedona, Grand Canyon Music Festival,
and the Grand Canyon Association.

Location: The KNAU offices are located in Building 83 on the south end of the Northern Arizona University campus.
Directions from downtown Flagstaff: Follow San Francisco St. south
past the NAU Skydome to the 4-way stop at Pine Knoll. Continue south
through intersection up the hill. Follow curve to left to building with
red roof, satellite dishes, and KNAU sign.
Directions from Phoenix:
Exit I-17 North at McConnell Dr. / NAU. Right onto McConnell. Straight through 2 stop signs to San Francisco St. South on San Francisco past the Skydome, through Pine Knoll intersection, up the hill. Follow curve to left to building with a red roof, satellite dishes, and KNAU sign.
