Erica Apodaca/Cronkite News

The number of reported laboratory-confirmed influenza cases in Arizona during the current flu season is well below the number at this point a year ago but significantly above the five-year average.

The state Department of Health Services' most recent weekly report says the cumulative total of cases so far this season is 235, compared with 389 cases at this point last season and with the five-year average of 129 cases.

The department says there were 62 reported lab-confirmed cases in the week ended Nov. 10, compared with 130 during the corresponding week a year ago and the five-year average of 43 cases.
