Ducey Promises Big Economic Development Announcement

Rob Schumacher/The Republic

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey is promising a big economic development announcement when he attends a business group's legislative forecast event.

Ducey plans to speak at the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry event on Friday along with Republican and Democratic leaders of the state House and Senate.

Ducey tweeted Thursday night that unemployment is down, private sector growth up and he plans the "big announcement."

Despite the Republican governor's statement on the economy, the state's budget is expected to be tight in the coming year as tax revenues remain relatively stagnant and corporate tax cuts continue to crimp revenue.

The governor is expected to reveal his budget proposal next week after the 2018 legislative session starts. He promises more cash for K-12 schools, but how much isn't known.
