Health Officials Say Plague Found Near Williams

CBS 5

Coconino County Health officials say fleas near Williams have tested positive for plague.

They’ve notified residents of Red Lake and burrows in the area are being treated. They’re the first confirmed cases of plague in fleas this year and authorities say there are likely more. The public can reduce the risk of exposure by avoiding rodent burrows, keeping pets on leashes, and not handling sick or dead animals.
