Prescott, AZ – Arizona 1st Congressional District candidate Sandra Livingstone is emphasizing her childhood growing up in Prescott, Arizona, and her stance on immigration. The Republican candidate was born and raised in the 1st District.

Inside her campaign headquarters, Livingstone said that local connection is exactly why she's running for Congress.

Flagstaff, AZ – SFX: ATVs racing across Cinder Hills.

On a recent Saturday Cinder Hills, the designated ATV area just east of Flagstaff, is crawling with all types of off road vehicles. Dune buggies, quads and motor bikes, big and small, race across the rocky landscape in every direction. All of them loud and all of them fast. (spike tape of ATV) People drive from all over the region to ride up and down the foothills of the San Francisco Peaks.

The 9th circuit court of appeals has ruled to allow the use of treated wastewater to make artificial snow at the Arizona Snowbowl ski area. It's the latest decision in a see-saw legal battle over Native American religious freedoms on the San Francisco Peaks. From KNAU's Indian Country News Bureau, Daniel Kraker reports.

John Misner, President & general manager of KPNX in Phoenix and KNAZ in Flagstaff, says there were several contributing economic factors leading up to the difficult decision to close the station.

It was a humid August day when scientist Rafael Zon stood in the Coconino National Forest and said, Here we shall plant the tree of research. Today marks the 100th anniversary of the Fort Valley Experimental Forest, which sits at the base of the San Francisco Peaks north of Flagstaff. It was the first of its kind outdoor laboratory in the country. Arizona Public Radio's Laurel Morales took a tour and has this report.

Camp Verde, AZ – Long-time Arizonan Darol Kubacz is on his way up Mt. Kilimanjaro. At nearly 20,000 feet, it's often referred to as the "Roof of Africa." Like many climbers, Kubacz is doing it, in part, just to see if he can. But if he does reach the summit, he'll set a unique world record. Darol Kubacz will become the first paraplegic climber to do so.Arizona Public Radio's Gillian Ferris Kohl reports. Flagstaff, AZ – NAU President John Haeger explains that essentially a student who walks through the doors at CCC this fall will also be a student at NAU. The program is called CCC2NAU. It responds to calls from several state officials to double the number of bachelor's degrees awarded in the state by 2020.

Flagstaff, AZ – The Republicans have one fewer candidate in the Congressional District One race. Flagstaff business-owner Preston Korn has ended his candidacy.

Korn's decision is partly a financial one. In the last eight months, he was able to raise around 25-thousand dollars. Korn says that's about a quarter of what he needed to mount a viable campaign.
