NPR's Gerry Hadden reports on the thousands of protesters who have gathered in Cancun, Mexico, to demonstrate against World Trade Organization talks.

For the most part, the protests have been peaceful. But during one violent demonstration that marred the talks' opening, a Korean farmer stabbed himself in the heart and later died.
