Thurston Moore: Quiet Dissonance

As a member of the legendary New York rock band Sonic Youth, Thurston Moore has crafted a 26-year career out of dissonance and melody. Equally inspired by the experimental-rock guitar compositions of Glenn Branca and the pop-culture prowess of Madonna, Sonic Youth has constantly challenged the notion of what's accepted in either realm of music.

Trees Outside the Academy is Moore's first song-based solo disc since 1995's Psychic Hearts. The album takes the straight pop sensibilities of Sonic Youth's recent albums Rather Ripped and Sonic Nurse, then translates them into a more acoustic environment.
