Flagstaff City Council To Discuss Allocation Of COVID-19 Relief Funds

City of Flagstaff

The Flagstaff City Council today will discuss the allocation of new coronavirus relief funds provided by the CARES Act.

The funds were allocated to the city by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
They'll be used specifically to prevent, prepare for and resond to the COVID-19 pandemic. City staff recommended allocations of funds to Flagstaff Shelter Services, Catholic Charities and Coconino Health and Human Services, for programs including infectious disease response, homeless services and eviction prevention and housing stabilization. Last week, Flagstaff Shelter Services shifted current clients to local hotels for the immediate future. Nearly a third of the shelter population had tested positive for COVID-19.
