Deaths and confirmed caes of COVID-19 continue to rise on the Navajo Nation. The Navajo Department of Health reports 147 new cases and 16 more deaths as of Wednesday.
The new numbers bring the total number of known deaths to 119 and the number of confirmed cases to nearly 3,500, many of whom have recovered or are in the process of recovering, according to health officials. The highest concentration of cases continues to be in McKinley County, New Mexico and Apache County, Arizona. Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer will, again, implement a 57-hour curfew for the entire Nation this weekend in attempt to slow the spread of the virus. This weekend's curvew will have stricter measures than previous curfews, the details of which are being finalized today.
