Appeals Court Rules Trump Wrongly Diverted $2.5 Billion For Border Wall

Associated Press

A federal appeals court has ruled against the Trump administration in its transfer of military money to build sections of the U.S. border wall with Mexico.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled today that diverting 2.5 billion dollars from Pentagon funding to build the wall, illegally sidesteps Congress, which has the power to decide how to use the funds. The ruling says the President violated the Appropriations Clause of the Constitution. It’s one of several lawsuits filed against his administration over emergency border wall funding. Last year, Trump declared a national emergency on the southern border which freed up additional funding for his construction plan.
