The University of Arizona’s Department of Environmental Science released a study in partnership with Boeing saying the airline’s cleaning techniques are effective when it comes to traveling safely in a pandemic.
U of A researchers released an MS2 virus in an empty plane, spreading it along armrests, seat cushions and in restrooms. The plane was then cleaned using a combination of disinfectants and ultra violet wants. The cleaning methods destroyed the virus, according to the study. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention still recommend avoiding travel and wearing a mask if a flight is necessary.
