North Rim And White Mountains State Highways To Close For Winter

ADOT

The Arizona Department of Transportation will close several state highways for the winter.

State Route 473 in the White Mountains will be inaccessible Mon, Nov. 16 and SR 67 that leads to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon will close for the season Dec. 1.

Other highways in the White Mountains like SR 261 and SR 273 will also close by the end of the year or earlier or sooner depending on weather. The roads are shut down every winter because of significant snowfall. ADOT urges drivers to be cautious in snowy areas, avoid unpaved and unplowed roads, and pack emergency gear.
