Hopi Health Care Center Receives First Shipment Of Coronavirus Vaccine

IHS

The Hopi Tribe is receiving its first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday.

According to Chairman Timothy Nuvangyaoma’s office, the Hopi Health Care Center will initially get 150 doses. The facility will also eventually receive 400 doses of the Moderna vaccine, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to approved as early as Friday.

Health care workers along with residents of long-term care facilities will be the first to receive the treatment.

Hopi health officials say over the past two weeks they’ve confirmed more than 90 new COVID cases as the tribe has experienced a major infection spike.
