Arizona's Total Known COVID-19 Cases Top A Half-Million

AP, file

Arizona’s total coronavirus cases have now passed the half-million mark.

The Department of Health Services Monday reported more than 10,000 new known infections in the state with 42 additional deaths attributed to the virus.

In addition, a record number of COVID-19 patients are in intensive care units in Arizona. As of Sunday, there were more than 1,000 ICU beds in use throughout the state, exceeding levels reached during the state’s July surge. Less than 10% of Arizona’s total hospital beds remain available.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients is also at an all-time high at almost 4,400.

Nearly 8,500 people have died in Arizona since the beginning of the pandemic.
