Prescribed Burns This Week On Prescott National Forest

KNAU

Fire managers with the Prescott National Forests are planning several prescribed burns this month.

Officials with the Verde Ranger District will begin the ‘Crater’ burn this Thursday, continuing through March 1st, pending favorable weather conditions. Aerial ignitions will be used to burn a little more than 3,000 acres near Powell Springs Campground and the community of Cherry. A prescribed pile burn is also planned this week on the Bradshaw Ranger District within the Prescott Basin. Smoke impacts are expected to be light.
