2 Navajo Nation Casinos To Reopen Friday

Fire Rock Casino

The Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise says two of its casinos will reopen at limited capacity starting this Friday, March 19th.

In a press release, the Enterprise says the Fire Rock and Northern Edge Navajo Casinos, both located in New Mexico, will begin operating at 25 percent capacity. The announcement comes after a decline in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations on the reservation which prompted Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez to lift some, though not all, restrictions on business operations. The casinos will allow Navajo Nation residents only, and masks will be required for both employees and clients. A spokesperson for the tribe’s Gaming Enterprise says infectious disease experts were consulted in the reopening plan.
