Hopi COVID-19 Infections Flatten As Nearly Half Of Tribe Is Vaccinated

Hopi health officials say COVID-19 infections on the reservation continue to flatten.

The tribe reports only two known cases in the past two weeks, which is a significant decrease from the tribe’s pandemic high in January that saw 20 or more active infections at a time within the 19,000-person tribe. The overall Hopi COVID positivity rate is 16.4%, however, compared to 10.8% overall in the state of Arizona.

Vaccination rates on Hopi are also higher than many other adjacent areas with more than 48% of the population having received at least one dose.
