Wildfire Triggers 'Set' Status For University Heights, Kachina Village, Other Areas

Coconino National Forest

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office has put all areas south of Interstate-40 and west of Interstate-17 in “Set” status of pre-evacuation because of wildfire.

Residents of University Heights, Kachina Village, Pine Dell, Mountain Dell, Woody Mountain Road as well as South Garland Prairie and Pine Aire Estates are asked to gather emergency kits and be ready to evacuate.

Areas around Sycamore Canyon and areas south of Forest Service Road 535 off Forest Road 231 are already under evacuation orders.

The lightning-caused Rafael Fire is burning in Sycamore Canyon on about 20,000 acres. Officials haven’t yet reported any containment.
