Flagstaff, AZ – Northern Arizona University has announced a new engineering scholarship that will honor two men killed earlier this year in a plane crash near Flagstaff. The Protiva-Moody Scholarship will recognize the work of NAU alumni Frank Protiva and Tom Moody. Both men earned engineering degrees at NAU and opened civil engineering companies in Flagstaff, Shephard-Wesnitzer, Incorporated and Natural Channel Design. Their work included extensive habitat restoration projects along the lower Colorado River. The long-time friends died January 23rd when their plane crashed shortly after taking off from Flagstaff's Pulliam Airport. The Protiva-Moody scholarship will be awarded annually to qualifying civil engineering students at NAU. The endowment will come through the NAU Foundation. Information on the scholarship is at nau.alumni.com/givetonau.
