Flagstaff, AZ – For the school year ahead, the Flagstaff Unified School District faces a 4-million dollar reduction in state funding. That's after voters passed Proposition 100 last month and a school override in March. The closures include Christensen and South Beaver Elementary Schools, Flagstaff Middle School and Sinagua High School. 6th graders will join 7th and 8th graders at Mount Elden and Sinagua Middle Schools.
Board Member Chris Bavasi says they've hired a consultant and will begin meeting today to talk about new boundaries for the district.
"And what we have told the consultant is we want to have the least disruption. We want to have the least number of children impacted by the boundary changes."
TB) Bavasi said they're going to work to reduce impact on all children in the district as well as teachers and staff. Families interested in learning more about the changes can attend a forum, 6:00 Monday night at Coconino High or Tuesday at Sinagua . The board will vote on the new boundaries for the district Wednesday.
