The Senate Judiciary Committee holds a confirmation hearing for Merrick Garland, President Biden's nominee for attorney general. Garland is the former chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit and has deep ties to the Justice Department, where he served as a prosecutor decades ago.
