Arizona reported more than 200 more deaths from COVID-19 statewide Friday. It brings the state’s total to more than 13,000 fatalities since the pandemic began.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Arizona continues to have the highest rate of new infections in the country and second-highest rate of deaths in the U.S. COVID-related hospitalizations and the state’s seven-day rolling averages of new known daily cases and daily deaths have slowed recently, but hospital officials this week urged Arizonans against becoming complacent about mask wearing and social distancing.
The Arizona Department of Health Services on Friday reported more than 5,000 additional known cases. In all, more than 748,000 Arizonans are confirmed to have been infected since the pandemic began.
