AZ Secretary Of State Hobbs Announces Bid For Governor

AP

Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has announced her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for governor in 2022. In a statement today, Hobbs said she’s running for governor “to deliver transparency, accountability, and results for Arizonans."

Hobbs’ bid comes as she continues to denounce the Republican-controlled state Senate’s ongoing audit of the 2020 presidential election. There has been no evidence to suggest the election was flawed or stolen. Hobbs says Arizona's government is being run by conspiracy theorists focused on political posturing instead of "getting things done."

Meanwhile, the ongoing audit continues to draw Republican politicians from across the country. Three Pennsylvania lawmakers will be in Arizona this week to observe the state Senate GOP’s partisan audit of the 2020 election. Senators Doug Mastriano and Cris Dush, and Representative Rob Kauffman will meet with Arizona legislators at the Capitol before touring the counting site and getting a briefing from auditors. They are the latest Republicans to visit the audit in Phoenix.
