Coconino County Health officials say a resident of the greater Flagstaff area has tested positive for COVID-19.
The individual is described as over 60 years old. A release from Coconino County Health and Human Services says no further information will be given about the person due to medical privacy laws.
The test was conducted by TGen North Clinical Laboratory in Flagstaff. Test results will be confirmed by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.
County officials are conducting an investigation to identify people who potentially came into contact with the diagnosed individual. Those who had close contact will be notified and provided appropriate information.
Coconino County health officials advise that individuals who are experiencing respiratory symptoms including cough, fever and shortness of breath and have also been in contact with someone who tested positive or traveled to an area experiencing community spread should be tested, as should those who have a respiratory illness that medical professionals have been unable to diagnose.
Older adults and people with underlying medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes or lung disease are considered to be at higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19.
