Crews Contain 20% Of Horse Fire South Of Prescott

USFS

Fire officials say they’ve contained more than 20% of a wildfire burning south of Prescott.

The 9,000-acre Horse Fire has forced evacuations and the communities of Crown King, Minnehaha, Horsethief Cabins and some private inholdings have been given the “Go” order by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.

Firefighters say dry and dead vegetation due to drought are fueling the spread of the fire that’ll likely burn until the area receives moisture. The fire is human caused and under investigation. A virtual meeting will be held on the Prescott National Forest’s Facebook page tonight at 6 p.m.
