Governor Doug Ducey has issued an executive order increasing quarantine requirements for those traveling to Arizona.
Anyone who flies into the state from an area with substantial community spread must isolate or quarantine themselves for 14 days.
“Slowing the spread of COVID-19 remains our top priority,” said Governor Ducey in a press release. “Today’s action aligns with guidance from public health officials, while ensuring those traveling for essential functions can continue to do so. We will take all necessary precautions to keep Arizonans safe.”
Under the order, the Arizona Department of Health Services will coordinate with every airport in the state and law enforcement and healthcare personnel will assist with carrying it out. Violators could face a misdemeanor and $2,500 fine. Airline employees, military and emergency personnel, healthcare workers, and some others are exempt.
The order will last until Ducey’s public health emergency declaration ends.
