Evacuations Remain In Place For Horse Fire Near Crown King

InciWeb

A Type 1 Incident Management Team has assumed control of the Horse Fire burning northwest of Crown King and south of Prescott on the Bradshaw Ranger District.

The local Type 3 Team turned over command Sunday, with additional firefighters and support arriving in Crown King. The Horse Fire is actively burning dense vegetation in difficult terrain. Airtankers and helicopters continue to work the scene, slowing the spread of the fire to allow firefighters ground access.  All roads leading into Crown King remain closed, and the communities of Crown King, Minnehaha, and Horsethief Cabins remain evacuated. The fire has burned nearly 10,000 acres so far and is 21% contained, according to InciWeb.
