Officials on the Coconino National Forest’s Red Rock Ranger District will boost fire restrictions as wildfire danger increases.
The stage-two order goes into effect Wed, June 3 and bans all campfires, charcoal, coal and wood stoves, and smoking on the district that includes the Sedona and Oak Creek areas. It also bans welding or operating acetylene and other torches with open flames, and prohibits the use of chainsaws and internal combustion tools between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.
The order will remain in effect until August first or until officials rescind it. In addition, the entire Prescott National Forest will also begin stage-two restrictions Wed, June 3.
Campfires, and wood and charcoal grills are already prohibited on all six of Arizona’s national forests.
