Havasupai Tribe Suspends Tourism Amid Pandemic

beautifulworld.com

The Havasupai Tribe has approved a resolution to keep visitors off its land through mid-May to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

The tribal council had originally suspended tourism in March for 30 days to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Anyone with a permit to stay at the tribe's lodge or in the campgrounds through May 14 can reschedule the trips for next year.

About 40,000 people visit the Havasupai Falls each year. The area is only accessible by foot, mule or helicopter and is home to about 450 people.
