Hopi Adopt Emergency Plan As New Coronavirus Spreads

A self-governing village in consolidation with the Hopi tribal council has approved a resolution in reaction to the spread of the new Coronavirus.

The First Mesa Consolidated Villages’ traditional leadership has approved an Emergency Action Plan.

It authorizes former Hopi Tribal Chairman and now Community Service Administrator Ivan Sidney to work with the Hopi Villages, tribes, state and federal agencies to immediately implement the Plan.

It will provide an organized structure to make assessments of any emergency situation, prepare a plan of operation, identify resources (including funds), remedy obstacles and/or challenges, inventory supplies and buildings, and make assignment of Village staff as needed.

The Hopi Health Care Center announced last week it received its first confirmed case of a patient who tested positive with the coronavirus (COVID-19).
