National Guard To Extend Work At Flagstaff Family Food Center

Flagstaff Family Food Center

The National Guard was set to end its assignment at the Flagstaff Family Food Center today, but has extended its stay through September. Officials with the Food Center say they’re ecstatic over the unexpected news.

The Guard had been doing a lot of the work regularly done by volunteers as the coronavirus pandemic spread. However, the volunteer coordinator with the Food Center said in a statement today that the National Guard can’t single-handedly operate all 10 of hunger relief programs and volunteers are strongly encouraged to return or renew hours if they feel safe. The Food Center has put social distancing and sanitation measures in place to fight against the spread of COVID-19.
