Navajo Nation Strikes Deal To Become International Film And Media Destination

The Navajo Nation and the Arizona Commerce Authority have announced a new partnership to make the tribe’s land an international film and media destination. The deal was struck in July and tribal officials hope it will provide economic and workforce opportunities on the reservation and help overcome some of the economic and social effects of the COVID-19 pandemic that hit the tribe especially hard. The agreement creates training and employment opportunities along with marketing and public relations campaigns to attract production companies to the area. Since 1913, more than 5,000 films and TV shows have been filmed in Arizona.
