The snow arrived in Flagstaff this year right on schedule-for a normal year. A Pacific storm system dumped 17 inches at the airport and more than 3 feet on the nearby San Francisco Peaks. But it took us by surprise, since normal years have become so rare. Just when we've learned to expect long, dry winters, it snows enough to give us hope.
