U Of A Researchers Find Promising Biomarker For Early Detection Of Stomach Cancer

National Institutes of Health

Researchers at the University of Arizona have found a promising new biomarker that may help with early detection of stomach cancer.

The biomarker can be detected through a simple blood test, and appears in patients before the disease develops, saving time and lowering treatment costs. Currently, stomach cancer diagnosis requires endoscopic collection of tissue through a biopsy procedure, and then analysis by pathology. U of A researchers say the new biomarker may also improve patient response to therapy.
