Navajo Nation tribal member and former Arizona lawmaker Arlando Teller has been sworn in as the first-ever assistant secretary for Indian Affairs under the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The federal government will allocate more than 32 million dollars to pedestrian safety and infrastructure projects in downtown Flagstaff. Officials say it’s the largest investment in the city since the construction interstates 17 and 40 decades ago.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg traveled to Arizona to highlight a pair of projects that revamp roadways and add new bicycle and pedestrian bridges.
