Type One Crew to Take Over on Cellar Fire Thursday

A national crew will take over management of a wildfire burning 16 miles south of Prescott.


Officials on the Coconino National Forest say work to build control lines around the Newman Fire will likely cause heavy smoke in the area near Upper Lake Mary through Thursday.

Crews on the Prescott National Forest are battling a fire roughly six miles southeast of Dewey.

The Woodbury wildfire near Superior, Arizona is nearly 68% contained after it has charred more than 123-thousand acres in the Superstition Mountains.

Hot weather and windy conditions will present a challenge to fire crews working the blaze through the weekend. Officials say smoke from the fire has been greatly reduced over the past few days.
