Officials at Northern Arizona Healthcare, the largest hospital system in the region, are reporting a surge in COVID-19 cases. But they say they’re not near crisis levels and have enough staff to handle increase. KNAU’s Ryan Heinsius reports.

In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic Flagstaff Medical Center and other northern Arizona hospitals report shortages of personal protective equipment, or PPE… especially isolation gowns. Community members in Flagstaff stepped up with a creative solution. A group of volunteers sewed hundreds of gowns out of Tyvek house wrap. KNAU’s Melissa Sevigny spoke to retired schoolteacher Debbie McMohan about the project.


Medical experts in northern Arizona expect cases of COVID-19 to continue to surge through the end of the month. It’s in part due to the rapid growth in infections on the Navajo Nation. KNAU’s Ryan Heinsius reports.


Northern Arizona Healthcare, the parent company of Flagstaff Medical Center, says it’s developed four tiers for COVID-19 testing to contend with an ongoing shortage of collection and medical supplies.
