A new trial date for former Arizona Corporation Commission Gary Pierce and three others who are charged in what prosecutors say was a bribery scheme aimed at benefiting a water company owner.

Arizona Department of Economic Security officials say a state lawmaker has been indicted on felony fraud and other charges for lying on her application for food stamps.

The charges of fraud, theft and unlawful use of food stamps against Rep. Cecilia Velasquez were announced Wednesday by DES Director Tim Jeffries.

The indictment issued by the state grand jury was unsealed Monday. Velasquez is set to appear in court on July 5.

The 42-year-old Litchfield Park Democrat didn't immediately return calls to her cellphone seeking comment.

Polygamous sect leader Lyle Jeffs has fled home confinement in Salt Lake City less than two weeks after he was let out of jail pending trial on charges in a multimillion-dollar food stamp fraud scheme.

A warrant for Jeffs' arrest was issued Sunday afternoon after he took off sometime over the weekend, said U.S. Attorney's Office spokeswoman Melodie Rydalch. She said authorities aren't releasing details about how he got loose.
