The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has appointed a former county flood control director as a temporary replacement for suspended Assessor Paul Petersen.

The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has suspended an elected official accused of running a human smuggling scheme involving pregnant women from the Marshall Islands brought to the U.S. to give birth for adoptions. The board voted unanimously Monday to suspend Assessor Paul D. Petersen without pay for up to 120 days.

A Utah judge has reduced the bail for the Maricopa County Assessor charged in an alleged human smuggling scheme involving pregnant women.  A district judge Friday reduced Paul D. Petersen’s bail to $150,000 from $3 million.

Phoenix Area Freeway Named To Honor Late Congressman Ed Pastor

A portion of a Phoenix area freeway will be renamed in honor of late Arizona Congressmember Ed Pastor.  The Arizona State Board on Geographic and Historic Names has approved the naming of a 22-mile South Mountain section of Loop 202 to Congressman Ed Pastor Freeway.
