NAU Will Hold May Graduation Ceremonies Online

Northern Arizona University has announced graduation ceremonies will take place next month---and the event will be held virtually, online on May 8th at 11 a.m. as an effort to practice physical distancing during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Arizona’s three state universities have released tuition proposals for the 2020-2021 academic year, proposing increases for some students but holding steady for others.

The uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic has a lot of people feeling anxious and fearful. Practicing gratitude can help. KNAU listener Georgia Wagner works with the Center for International Education at Northern Arizona University and teaches workshops in crisis management. She says gratitude is a critical part of self-care during difficult times. In this week’s Poetry Friday segment, Georgia shares what she’s grateful for, offers us a quick exercise to turn fear into gratitude, and reads a poem by Pablo Neruda called ‘Ode to Thanks.’

The Kaibab National Forest is joining Northern Arizona University and the Arizona Elk Society to spray treat aspen stands infested with a tiny insect that threatens the iconic tree species. They’ll be working with USDA Forest Service Forest Health Protection on the project.

Northern Arizona University will move all classes online for at least two weeks following spring break amid heightened concerns about the transmission of coronavirus.

Arizona State University officials said classes will be offered only online for a two-week period starting March 16th.  It's a precautionary move to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Governor Doug Ducey has appointed a former aide who now practices law in Phoenix as a member of the Arizona Board of Regents, the panel that oversees the state university system--including Arizona State University, UArizona and Northern Arizona University.

Attorneys for a former Northern Arizona University student are asking the state Court of Appeals to dismiss a first-degree murder charge against their client.  A Coconino County judge rejected the bid last month.
