In an online staff Town Hall yesterday, administrators at Northern Arizona University discussed enrollment issues in the wake of campus-wide budget cuts and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. 

University officials say about 60% of employees at Northern Arizona University will take a pay reduction starting July 1 to meet a $100 million budget shortfall, a couple weeks after some faculty and staff were laid off.

The President of Northern Arizona University is responding to community pressure to divulge specific details of the university's budget plans after a slew of employees lost their jobs last week, some long-time employees who say they were blindsided by the move.

More than 100 demonstrators gathered at Flagstaff City Hall yesterday to protest large-scale job cuts at Northern Arizona University in the wake of pre-existing budget shortfalls worsened by the coronavirus pandemic.

A protest is planned today at Flagstaff City Hall over large-scale job cuts and contract "non-renewals" at Northern Arizona University related to ongoing budget shortfalls and dropping enrollment, worsened by the coronavirus pandemic's impact on the economy. Hundreds of non-tenure faculty, lecturers and other staff were reportedly eliminated last week. Some were long-time university employees.
