Solid Monsoon Numbers as the Season Winds Down

It has been an above average monsoon season for the majority of locations across Arizona. The summer rain has helped relieve the drought stricken land, coming out of one of the driest periods (fall '17 - spring '18) ever recorded. Here is a list of selected city rainfall totals and how it compares to normal (1981-2010 average).

The NWS has also provided rainfall maps of the Flagstaff region and Prescott/Verde Valley areas. As usual there are some interesting spreads. The east side of Flagstaff has been noteably drier than dowtown and the north side. Prescott and Jerome totals stand out with some big rainfall totals.

Note: A very wet 8/25 not included.

The monsoon will begin to fade over the coming weeks. With little bursts of moisture making there way into the region between extended dry periods. Enjoy the recent moisture, it is a brilliant time of year.
