The Chapman Stick is a musical instrument that looks a little like a sitar—but sounds like a cross between a harp and electric guitar.

It might not be the first instrument that comes to mind when you think of traditional holiday tunes. But, a new album by Arizona musician Michael Kollwitz puts the Chapman Stick front and center. In the latest installment of our series: “Eats and Beats: Stories about food and music on the Colorado Plateau,” Kollwitz introduces us to the Chapman Stick and plays some songs of the season.  His new holiday recording is called “Santa Plays the Stick.”   This “Eats and Beats” story was produced by KNAU’s Steve Shadley.
