KNAU, Arizona Public Radio, is seeking a Program and Operations Director to guide the sound, structure, and daily broadcast of northern Arizona’s award-winning public radio station. This position is ideal for a creative and technically savvy leader who’s passionate about public media and its power to inform, inspire, and connect communities.
The Program and Operations Director oversees KNAU’s broadcast operations and ensures consistent, high-quality delivery of local and national content. Working closely with the General Manager, this role helps shape the station’s on-air sound, manages programming and automation systems (WideOrbit) and ensures FCC compliance in all areas. In addition to assuring the station’s audio technical quality, this position serves as KNAU’s Chief Operator and fills in as an on-air host as needed.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in radio programming or station operations, preferably in public media
Preferred:
- Strong understanding of NPR programming, public radio audience service, and sound design
- Experience with automation systems (WideOrbit preferred)
- Leadership, communication, and team management skills
- Knowledge of FCC regulations and public broadcasting compliance
- Experience with PRSS SOSS/Content Depot satellite automation and PRX or FTP transfers
