Ducey Orders Bars, Gyms, Movie Theaters Closed Amid COVID-19 Spike

AP

Governor Doug Ducey has issued an executive order prohibiting large gathering as Arizona experiences a surge in new coronavirus cases.

It’ll again force the closure of bars, nightclubs, gyms, movies theaters water parks and tubing operators starting at 8 p.m. Monday. The order lasts 30 days and will expire July 27. Bars can still provide takeout and curbside service during the closure.

In addition, Ducey says the state’s K-through-12 schools will delay opening until at least August 17, but district officials will be able to conduct distance learning earlier.

Arizona has seen record numbers of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations since Ducey’s stay-at-home order expired May 15.
