Smoosh: Infectiously Joyful

Smoosh.
Smoosh.

Sisters Asya and Chloe make up Smoosh, a Seattle duo that plays infectiously joyful indie pop. At 14 and 12, respectively, the two have toured all over North America and Europe with such high profile names as Cat Power, Death Cab for Cutie, Pearl Jam and Sleater-Kinney.

Smoosh began making music when the two began drum lessons in 2000 under current Death Cab drummer Jason McGerr. Soon, they began experimenting with different sounds, with Asya on their home piano and Chloe on drums. The girls, who alternate between home schooling and public school, have made remarkable musical progress since their appealing but primitive debut, She Like Electric. The new Free to Stay features a more poised, solid sound while still preserving the youthful innocence of its predecessor.
