Deer Tick At The 2009 Philadelphia Folk Festival

With energy and dark humor, Deer Tick makes edgy, sparse, Americana-infused rock. After beginning as a duo, the group has evolved into a self-described "rock-rock-rock" outfit with a little something more: a twist of alt-country and gritty blues.

The band's latest album, Born on Flag Day, is full of roughed-up rock 'n' roll, wrapped around a solid indie-rock core. After touring with the likes of Jenny Lewis, playing at festivals such as SXSW and Newport Folk, and building a reputation for lively performances, Deer Tick made a big splash at the 2009 Philadelphia Folk Festival.
