The Black Seeds On World Cafe

The Black Seeds' members hail from Wellington, New Zealand, where they've cultivated a unique and energetic style of reggae-fusion. Fronted by vocalists Barnaby Weir and Daniel Weetman, the band has experienced crossover success by exploring dub, funk and reggae sounds.

The group released its first album in 2001 and, in spite of its worldwide popularity, never released a record in North America until last year's Solid Ground. The eight-piece band has since toured in the U.S., and recently stopped in to record a live session for WXPN's World Cafe.
