Apple, Samsung Wage War In Patent Battle

RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST:

NPR's business news starts with the Apple/Samsung patent war.

(SOUNDBITE OF MUSIC)

MONTAGNE: Apple and its Korean rival are waging a nasty battle in nearly a dozen countries, and today Samsung scored a win. A judge in Australia gave Samsung permission to sell its Galaxy tablet computers there, just in time for holiday shopping. Apple has been accusing Samsung of copying key features of the iPad and iPhone, and has been trying to block Samsung from selling versions of those devices. Apple was able to do that in Germany, and is still hoping to block Samsung from selling its mobile devices here in the U.S. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
