Desert Dreams: Mexican Arizona and the Politics of Educational Equity with Dr. Laura K. Muñoz
Join the NAU History Department for a talk in honor of Hispanic/Latine Heritage Month. Historian Dr. Laura K. Muñoz will share her book, Desert Dreams, which chronicles seventy-five years of Mexican American efforts to attain educational equality in Arizona. Desert Dreams is the first comprehensive social history of Mexican-Americans in Arizona before 1960, and demonstrates that Arizonans have engaged in vital political, legal, and educational debates about civil rights across generations, subsequently giving rise to a national Mexican American political consciousness.
